Bass Guitar Lessons
Bass Guitar Instructors
Moore Brothers Music has two instructors that specialize in bass guitar, Adam and Luke. We also have several other guitar instructors that can get you started on the fundamentals of bass guitar, but will transfer you to Adam or Luke as you progress.
Age requirements
The minimum age we accept for bass guitar lessons is 9 years old. Please understand that bass has a longer neck than the guitar, is a heavier instrument, and requires more hand strength and dexterity due to the larger strings and intervals between frets.
Instrument requirements
Students will need a bass guitar in good playing condition. If you have any question whether your instrument is in good playing condition, please ask your instructor or Scott and Troy at the front desk to examine your instrument. We can do most minor repairs and adjustments to your instrument.
Please bring your instrument in your case to each lesson.
Electric bass guitar students should also have a bass amplifier for practicing at home. DO NOT USE A GUITAR AMPLIFIER FOR BASS GUITAR! The low frequencies of a bass guitar can cause damage to your guitar amplifier.
If you are in need of a bass guitar or amplifier, we have a wide range for sale and for rent.
Practice requirements
As with all lessons, plan on practicing 30 minutes, 5 or 6 days a week, for each weekly 30 minute private lesson. Your goal each week is to master what you learned in your lesson so you may move on to the next step. With daily practice, you will advance quickly!
Bass guitar is a very cool instrument and bass players are very high in demand. Don't be surprised if you're invited to join a band if you even think about playing bass guitar!
